And we're off (almost)

We leave in the morning. The kids are in bed. There are piles of bags in the basement. Matt is delivering Rosie's stuff to Amanda because there won't be room in the car tomorrow. It's quiet.

It has been a very stressful race to the finish. I have been working too much and under way too much pressure. This not only stressed me out, but it left Matt to get everything ready to go. This not only stressed Matt out, but left the kids to deal with their stress in a more solitary way than we would hope. The kids have bickered with each other. Calvin has had belly aches and has taken his temperature a couple times a day. Eleanor had been crying, but is holding up fine now. Like the kids, we feel the stress. We have snapped at each other, but not as much as I would expect under these circumstances. I think we're both overwhelmed and sort of alone in our exhaustion. (Sean and Dianna, I don't know how you did it!) It's over now though and we've made it to the end. (Except that my grant is not done. That will be done- or not- by Wednesday.)

Tomorrow we're off to Canton! A modest beginning to a big trip!
